“Threads of sorrow caused by the imperfections of the world.” Giya Kancheli
LIGHT OVER DARKNESS was a project that immediately conjured many visual concepts for us, this time with the juxtaposition of a very contrasty black-and-white look with some more colourful elements.
Another element that shaped the project visually was inspired by the 20th-century music of Schnittke and Kancheli present on that album, but also by the architecture of the concert hall in Łódź, in Poland. Especially the black and white monolithic structures, which also reflect the concept of ‘light over darkness’, inspired us to pay visual tribute to some of the visual concepts of Stanley Kubrick, who, like none other, managed to blend 20th-century classical music with vast visuals.
